Re: [visit nursebob.com] Pressure tubing

At our hospital, here in Las Vegas, we change the pressure tubing Q 72 Hr.
We also have a policy to change Diprivan tubing Q 12 Hr. There seems to be
debate among hospitals regarding the Diprivan tubing change schedules,
however. Some treat Diprivan the same way that NS or D51/2 is treated. New
Problem: Vent Weaning. Our ICU has a problem with docs taking their forever
getting some patients off vent that would wean well and moving too quickly on
others. What is the consensus out there for weaning and length of time a
patient can safely stay on a vent?
