I am the Manager of Critical Care Education and Quality at our facility and
working with our Intensivists, we have just reviewed this particular issue,
we have been and are still using the phlebostatic axis as our point of
reference for leveling our transducers for accurate readings both with
arterial lines and with swan lines. This provides the most accurate and
consistent measurements for appropriate practice patterns.

Hello,
I am a critical care nurse, and have always aligned the transducer at the
phlebostatic axis. The critical nurse educators are now teaching the align
the transducer at the actual arterial catheter axis (where ever that may
be). My question is what resource governs this?
Thank you in advance
