Arterial and venous sheath removal   Message List

Maritess,

I've heard it both ways....

(1) Remove the venous sheath first because it's easier to manage and needs less
pressuring time.

(2) Remove the arterial sheath first because if you have a vaso-vagal response,
you still have access to a large vein... In some facilities I've heard that
removing the venous sheath first is simply not done.

What do you do now, and why? Is the doc near by to tell you their preference?

I'd be interested to hear what the rest of the list has to say too.
