Re: HME Question

I am also very sensitive to humidity. If I don't get heated humidification then
my secretions get very thick and sticky. My parents purchased a heated plate
humidifier. I have an inverter that runs off my wheelchair battery (as does my
vent-design by my parents). This way I can always have heated humidification
while on the vent. Off the vent I am fine but on the vent the nonhumidified air
hurts.

This varies depending on my classes and social stuff. It's important to say that
I bleed no matter how long I use it. Yes, I was using the Portex brand and have
also tried Gibeck brand. My RT has never had this problem before but switched me
to the Ballard Flex HME. I found it very difficult to breathe through the
Ballard brand so until I can see my pulmo, I gave up using it as well.

keep my airway moist. However, if I use my thermovent, my secretions are thick
and bloody but if I don't use the thermovent, they are just thick. Is there
something I am missing or something I could do to help keep them thin and easy
to suction/cough out. I have since quit using my thermovents. Is it just me
being me or any advice? (I kno w Kimi already answered on FB)
