Quite often, I predict events of the future so accurately

that some people call me a prophet. But I am not a prophet.

I do plenty of research before making long-shot predictions.

By venturing way out onto the narrowest of limbs in trees

that many others dare not climb, I often am called "fanatic"

or "troublemaker." When witnessing things that need fixing,

I do my best to alert friends and neighbors. It's not always

about milk issues.



Two days after the darkest day in America's history,

when every government health agency was assuring New

Yorkers that the air was safe to breathe, I wrote the

following column warning people in the New York area

to take a mini vacation. Get away until the dust settled:

ASBESTOS WARNING



To my friends in the New York area:



The World Trade Center was the last major construction job

in the United States to use blow-on asbestos insulation.



Crocidolite asbestos fibers are carcinogenic.



If you reside in Manhattan, now might be the perfect time to

let adversity become an excuse for a two-week New England

vacation while professionals dispose of toxic asbestos fibers.



If you visit or live in Manhattan, use a face mask. Shower

frequently, and after each exposure, send your clothing to a

dry cleaner.

I was ridiculed after posting the above. Many people asked

why I assumed to know more than the Environmental Protection

Agency (EPA) and the George Bush White House. Christie

Whitman was directed by Mr. Bush to lie to New Yorkers. She

subsequently resigned her post in protest of her own

cooperation in the deceptions. She, who is a breast cancer

survivor.



Today, July 14, 2004, 34 months after two planes

destroyed the twin towers of the world trade center,

more than half of the surviving police and fire department

personnel are on disability as a result of lung diseases

suffered during the ill-fated post-9/11 asbestos-filled days.



Over two thousand police and/or firefighters have filed

lawsuits against New York City for lung diseases and cancers

which they claim resulted from the fouled New York City

air that was supposedly safe to breathe.
