My Mistake, Sorry!
For many years I've been claiming that half of the
milking herds in America contain cows affected with
Johne's Disease.
Cows with Johne's are infected with mycobacterium
paratuberculosis. These bacteria are passed on to
humans in the milk they drink. Sadly, the Johne's
bacterium is not destroyed by pasteurization.
Human symptoms include irritable bowl disorders,
ulcerative colitis, and Crohn's disease. For more,

What have I been wrong about? The 50 percent number
is incorrect. On page 783 of the December, 2008 issue
of Hoard's Dairyman (The National Dairy Farm Magazine),
I have learned that 65 percent of America's dairy herds
are now affected. I stand corrected.
If you still drink milk, consider this: Your next
glass has the potential to change your toilet habits
dramatically. Are you willing to consume disease-causing
bacteria which can give you constant diarrhea for the
remainder of your life. Yikes!
Forgive me for underestimating the potential hazard.
