The Biggest Milk Lie Continues
Professor Terry Etherton of Penn State continues
to teach the big lie to his dairy students.
Professor Dale Bauman of Cornell continues
to teach the big lie to his dairy students.
Yesterday, I received my copy of Hoard's Dairyman,
the National Dairy Farm Magazine. Page 782 of the
December, 2008 issue (volume 153, No. 20) contains
a test for "young dairymen" prepared by the Hoard's
staff.
Question number 28 asks:
What technology destroys 90 percent of BST
(bovine somatatropin) found in milk?
a) pasteurization (b) homogenization
c) hormonization (d) reverse osmosis
The answer key reveals that "a" is
the correct response.
THIS IS A LIE, and they know it!
In order to show that rbST-treated milk was
"safe" to drink, Monsanto created fraudulent
research which was then submitted to the Food
and Drug Administration (FDA). Monsanto's claim
was that pasteurization destroyed most of that
powerful growth hormone found in milk.
In 1995, I discovered the nature of that lie
and wrote about it in columns, letters to editors,
my first book (Milk-The Deadly Poison). I also
told the story of that lie in lectures from one
end of America to another, and in England and
Canada. In addition, I testified before the USDA
and FDA giving details of that deception. Many
books have since been written exposing that lie
which I uncovered. The lie has been exposed,
and the dairy industry should know better than
to perpetrate it.
THE TRUTH
In 1998, Paul Groenewegen (still an undergraduate swine
specialist at the University of Guelph working with three
Monsanto scientists) pasteurized milk at the normal
temperature and time protocols (162 degrees Fahrenheit
for 15 seconds) to prove that pasteurization deactivated
bST in milk. It did not.
He then pasteurized milk for thirty minutes at the same
temperature! This overkill did not accomplish the
researcher's deceptive goal.
Their attempt at fraud only destroyed nineteen percent
of the bST. When that did not work, they sprinkled
powdered bST into the milk and pasteurized that. This
time the phony test worked. They destroyed 90 percent
of the bST in the spiked milk.
That was THEIR own word, SPIKED!
The research was published. FDA repeated the lie in
a peer-reviewed journal publication written by Judy
Juskevich and Greg Guyer (SCIENCE, August 24, 1990
vol. 249).
The big lie continues to be taught to the
dairy community by Hoard's Dairyman.
