I don't think ultrasounds are painful at all, it is not an invasive proceedure in any way.

I'm not familiar with heartworms in cats, although I've heard of it, it's rare in this area.  Maybe ask your vet for more information on these things.  Is your vet open to discusssing these things with you?  He/she really should be.

Hey Ashley Sorry to hear that you are having problems with Burnie :( I had to have an ultrasound done on my male kitty last year and it wasn't painful for him...
