Hi Ashley-
I know it can be a mistake to get another pet too
early, and only you will know when it's the right time
for you. A friend of mine was well over a year before
she could get another pet. So you most likely made a
wise decision in putting it off for a bit. Again, you
will know in your heart when it's the right time.
It's very common to worry that the next pet,
especially if older, might die sooner, or even to be
afraid it might die of the very same thing as the
former pet. I think most people who have lost a pet
have experienced the very same feelings. I've heard
it before from people who visit the animal shelter,
looking for a new pet; they often say they want
something young, to minimize the possibility of an
older animal dieing sooner; it's scarey to think of
having to go through that trauma and grief again so
soon.
