Been too LONG - update on Logan   Message List

Dear Family of Friends,

I hope that this finds you all well. I know a few family members
have been displaced by Katrina. I am praying for you. Praying also
that noone else I know has been badly affected by Katrina.

Logan....
Logan is growing; slowly but surely he is growing. He is just over
13 1/4 pounds. He is babbling away. Wants to run before even
walking LOL. He has four teeth now (ouch they can be bruttal when
he eats)!
He was just reevaluated by the early intervention team last Thursday
(Sept 1st). I got good news and some that wasn't bad but not as
good either. They said that he is no longer 33% delayed in ALL
areas. He is only being classed at 33% delayed in gross and fine
motor skills. That being said, they said he has progressed there.
His communication and self help he is only 25% delayed now!!! So he
has improved quite a bit. In fact they said his speech is right on
the border of not being delayed. We will start his once a week
therapy (developmental intervention) as soon as they give me an
appointment.
He is eating his purees, his crunchies (crackers, cookies, cereal),
his hard and soft things (like cooked and raw fruits and veggies).
He won't eat things like noodles. He won't do several textures or
mixtures of textures. I will have EI help us with that since they
said they can. But on a high note, he is figuring out how to self
feed. (he has figured out how to dip his spoon in food on his tray
and make it to his mouth yippe) Still trying to boost calories when
I can.
Oh and yesterday I was visiting someone and her friend who is a
nurse was saying that they shouldn't have labled Logan with Noonan's
so early (he wasn't even a year adjusted). She said that many of
the issues that they are looking at are really preemie issues. She
said preemies shouldn't be labled until absolutely necessary in
instances like his...especially when his non-Noonan's sister has
most of the same characteristics.

Me...
Well over all I am doing ok. My weight is out of control. I
haven't started eating horribly (no worse than I used to); yet I
keep gaining about a pound a week. I have tons of symptoms of hypo
thyroidism but the bloodwork isn't showing it. I am really
uncomfortable in my own skin!! This doctor has decided to start me
on thyroid medicine. I have taken two doses and feel better
already. I know people probably think it is all in my head - that
they can't work so fast but Tuesday my legs were extremely swollen
(as they have been for months) and today there is almost no swelling
AND I don't feel as exhausted as I have been!!!!

Well I guess that is all - sorry this got so long.

Maria
