Hi,
Well, we saw a new GI doctor. He is much better than the last one
we were seeing. At least this one ordered a "Milk Scan", increased
his Zantac for the reflux and changed his Lactulose to Miralax
(which is working wonders - no constipation for three weeks!). We
found out officially that Zack does have Gastroparesis - Delayed
Gastric Emptying so he is now on Reglan three times a day. He
really fights us on taking it, it must be really disgusting
tasting. This doctor at least is trying to help us get some weight
on him and not just pushing the ng-tube at us. Until he can prove
to me that Zack really needs it and that it will make a difference
on the weight gain, I am not giving in to it since Zack eats
willingly. He is still fluctuating between 13 lbs 13 ozs and 14
lbs. He has been this weight for a few months now. He is so active
now (almost walking) so I think he is burning off the calories
faster than he is eating them.
It does get very frustrating counting each ounce, but I keep in mind
that one of these days (hopefully soon) things will turn around. I
know that NS kids don't gain well but it sounds like as they get
older things get a little easier with eating and weight.
