Hi Lisa,as you know trials are being done both here and in
europe, however europe is a little behind as anakinra was not readily
available at the begining. I understand the difficulty of getting
here verues GOS. but having come from the UK myself i couldn't find
a better place than here,I must admit that although medical
insurrance is very costly over here I couldn't have been in a better
place. I have a wonderful team of Dr's who work with me as a team
and are willing to try anything to help with the disease. How long is
the wait to see Prof Woo, I feel that would be the basis of where to
go. I think you would be seen here quicker.
With regards to infection, yes that is true, but would be the same
even on steroids and embrel. other than that the half life of this
drug is 24hours and has none of the side effect that the others
have. Malignancies do unfortunally present themselves to some these
children but I think mainly because of the inflamation and not the
drug. I understand how you are feeling at this time, but please give
it a go, other than the steroids there isn't anything else to help.
Alex was so inflammed that he took 1060mg of steroids a week and
that was only touching the surface. His crp is now better than ever
and he is at last growing, which is another problem this diease
causes due to the inflamation. you will see a very different child,
as Michelle told the group Alex just keeps going and going.( he
would sleep 18-20 hours before this drug.
Sorry to have gone on so long and I am not being paid to sell
anakinra but the difference is unbelievable.
