Hello to all friends and fellow dancers and percussionists,
On April 26, 2009 "DRUMS from HEAVEN." will host a huge drum and dance circle
and will be undertaking a fundraiser for the purpose of raising money for The March of Dimes and Earth Birth Int.
The March of Dimes helps prevent women from having premature babies and children born with birth defects.
Click here: March for Babies - March of Dimes
Earth Birth is a global women's health network helping women in war torn areas to have safe and peaceful births.
"DRUMS from HEAVEN."
Will feature a wide variety of percussion, dance, poetry and art.
We hope to explore the cultures of African, Middle Eastern, Brazilian and Latin drumming.
DRUMS from HEAVEN mission statement:
Drum circles have come a long way over the last 15 years. They are showing up all over the place. We have gone way beyond the campfire drum circle! There are many new people entering the drumming community as it evolves into many new areas in society. It makes me happy to see percussion sounds being used in music therapy programs. I've seen it used for special needs students. Nordoff Robbins uses percussion and other instruments for some of their treatments. Hospitals have therapeutic programs which sometimes involve drumming.
For those of us who have experienced a drum circle we know the rewarding feeling we all get when we participate. We get energized, we get relaxed. We forget about our busy lives while we drum. Some of us meditate and focus on their inner being. Others feel the rhythms penetrate through their bodies. Some of us connect through drum and dance. The most important thing we are doing is communicating and making one another feel good.
I've been asked by some "newbies" about drum circles and what is DRUMS from HEAVEN? The people who come together at DRUMS from HEAVEN are all special. They are YOU! We are people who care about other peoples needs. We drum and dance for the fun of it, we make each other happy and while we do this we try and help raise money for a worthy cause. We are Heavenly drummers and dancers!
A typical DRUMS from HEAVEN usually features a very entertaining interactive drum circle welcoming anyone to join in. No drumming experience is needed. Some events are mixed in with short performances. Professional performers donate their time to each event. You will enjoy a relaxing and energizing time by participating in the drum and dance circle or watching and listening to the variety of world drum rhythms. Belly dancers and African style or any kind of dancers are welcome. If you have percussion instruments please bring them. If not there will be a sharing area. If you are new and need some basic instruction to get started there will be a host of drum facilitators on hand to assist you.
DRUMS from HEAVEN provides a venue of service by volunteers performing percussion music for the purpose of raising funds for charity. We solicit door donations from the public for the purpose of raising funds for a selected charitable cause. All funds raised are turned over to the charitable need on the day of the event. Only costs incurred to put on the event are deducted from the gross donations at the door. Please come experience DRUMS from HEAVEN!

We are celebrating Earth Day.
Please share any poetry you can compose or have access to in relation to an Earth Day theme. We will also be making a collage of Earth Day art that evening. Please use your imagination and bring something to add to the collage. Perhaps something showing the beauty of our planet Earth, a snapshot, magazine pictures ...
We are fortunate to have some talented artists donating their time for performances.
Sigi has promised a dazzling belly dance show with some of her peers joining her and also a surprise performance by some of her "little" bellydance students.
If I can get the proper players we hope to play some "live" Middle Eastern music to keep Sigi dancing! Click here: Belly Dance by sigi: NJ Bellydancer
Mais Um will electrify us with their high energy Brazilian samba band performance.
You don't want to miss this! Click here: +1(Mais Um) on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Downloads
We are also hoping to feature some Latin percussion but do to todays unprofessional cancelation by Justin Justin we are now once again in search of latin drummers.
Of course there will be plenty of time for African drum jams where you can all participate.
A program for the day will be sent before the event.
Please forward this e-mail to anyone you think may be interested in coming or interested in donating to this charity.
Here again is the date, time and location of our event.
