Join us for a Day of Drumming with Jim Donovan (Rusted Root)
At the Metropolitan Community Church of the Lehigh Valley

TWO great drumming workshops with Jim Donovan
Drum! Magazine's 2008 Drum Circle Facilitator of the Year

including the ALL NEW Drumming, Ecstasy & Evolution workshop!

Drumming is not only satisfying as a social or community event, but also as a healing experience that feeds your spirit. It drops you into a space of presence, of being in the moment, of moving towards openness, and it reminds you that it's ok to push things aside and create space for you yourself to let go and enjoy life.

Workshop Details:

The Yoga of Drum & Chant - 12:00pm to 2:30pm
"The Yoga of Drum and Chant : Drumming Meditation Workshop" is an energetic experience designed to renew your spirit and encourage transformational growth through direct positive action. Through conscious breath, sacred chant, and the healing power of the drum, you will leave the workshop feeling peaceful, grounded, invigorated, and alive. The energy exchange that comes from drumming and chanting as a group will lift you to a new level of openness within yourself that will continue to move you towards new personal and spiritual exploration.

ALL NEW!  Drumming: Ecstasy & Evolution
- 4:00pm to 6:30pm
In "Drumming: Ecstasy & Evolution", Jim will teach you hand drumming techniques to play exciting rhythms and drumming songs from Africa, the Americas, and the Caribbean. You will also learn a simple yet powerful, four-step process that will teach you how to deeply connect with your drumming by learning to inject true emotion into what you play. This process will help to intensify your experience and provide a great opportunity to access both your personal connection with the drum, as well as your connection to the people around you.

"Drumming: Ecstasy & Evolution" also teaches you to drum in a supportive and selfless way, and as you do this, your drumming experience will become richer, more satisfying and cathartic. It's true community music making.

He has researched traditional African music for over 20 years via field recordings, and has continuously integrated his findings into all his music both as a solo recording artist and with Rusted Root.

As a solo artist, Donovan has released 5 highly acclaimed solo CD's, an instructional DVD, and 4 instructional drumming CD's. His newest releases include Drum the Ecstatic International, The Yoga of Drum and Chant, and an instructional DVD entitled, "Jim Donovan's Rhythmic Foundation: Interactive African Drumming for Everyone."

Fulfilling his desire to share the power of rhythm first hand, Donovan built a series of educational drumming workshops that he teaches across the US and Europe at universities, festivals, schools, corporations, and specialty venues.
