After days of absorbing Sundays DRUMS from HEAVEN I'm ready to share my reflections. As usual so many beautiful people came to celebrate Earth Day. We drummed, danced and sang the day away. The 2 months of preparation was all made worth while by lots of caring people. Thanks to all of you who helped put up the cool Earth Day decorations.
We all warmed up with a loose drum jam getting all the kinks out. We were gettin ready for 5 hours of energetic fun. The first act taking the stage was Ubuntu. As they kicked it in with their blend of African rhythms some of us took to the dance floor. You could tell by the happy faces we were gettin into a zone. Mark, Krista, Eric, Lisa, and Ed with guest flutist Evans did a fine job of getting us off to a good start. Thanks to Ubuntu for a fabulous performance!
I shared my new song with a little help from my friends with some light percussion. I'd like to share it with you here, hope you dig it. It's called...

DRUMS from HEAVEN Vibe
Hey people, gather round the circle of love.
Gonna fly today, with the white peace dove.
Release your body, relax your mind.
A deeper energy, we're about to find.
Gonna fly today, with the white peace dove.
Release your body, relax your mind.
A deeper energy, we're about to find.
Let's make time for drum and dance.
Feel the power right thru your trance.
Jump up and move your funky feet.
Get down and boogie to the rhythm and beat.
Feel the power right thru your trance.
Jump up and move your funky feet.
Get down and boogie to the rhythm and beat.
If you so desire,
Let's dance around the fire.
We can dance all night long,
To the rhythm of our song.
Let's dance around the fire.
We can dance all night long,
To the rhythm of our song.
The drumbeats are oh so loud,
sending us higher than a cloud.
sending us higher than a cloud.
We feel each others rockin vibe.
Comin together as an awesome tribe.
Lets show the world we really care.
We're givin it up, we come to share.
Drums from Heaven is here for you,
Making people happy is what we do.

I sure had fun debuting that with everyone.
We gravitated into another jam, gettin into a comfort zone.
Some interesting percussion sounds enveloped the room.
I was really happy playin my new Steel Drum the "Wild Thing"!
Our next performer has become someone very special to what makes DRUMS from HEAVEN so meaningful. I met Sigi in 2005. When I first asked her to do her bellydance at our event their was never any hesitation. She and I have often said we are giving from the heart, Sigi has now come to 7 consecutive D.F.H.'s. She always gives an athletic, sensual performance. The sword balancing on her head while she giggles her whole body is amazing to see.
Sigi's taste in her garments is lavishing too. Thank you Sigi for another fine bellydance and for getting more people to come onto the dance floor. We continued jamming with some doumbek players making Sigi feel right at home.
Of course I took this opportunity to share with everyone my Earth Day poem written for last years celebration. Joining me on stage to add some nice effects
were a new friend on Didge, I think his name was Jesse, and Evans again bringing his magical flute alive. This is called...

THE EARTH DANCE
Everyone’s invited to the earth dance.
Rains from the sky dampen our ground.
Sprouting blades of bluegrass all around.
Everyone’s invited to the earth dance.
The sun is coming, full of warmth and light.
Fragrant flowers appear, so colorful and bright.
Everyone’s invited to the Earth dance.
Beautiful butterfly’s bob and weave.
Leaving us awestruck before they leave.
Everyone’s invited to the earth dance.
The sound of chirping birds can be heard as they sing,
a wonderful symphony, that lasts all spring.
Everyone’s invited to the earth dance.
As we look out into the ocean’s blue,
You can see soooo many fish dancing too.
Everyone’s invited to the earth dance.
Walking through the forest, seeing natures best,
confirms my belief we must protect our nest.
Everyone’s invited to the earth dance.
To continue this dance we must preserve our air.
Find ways to change things and show we care.
Everyone’s invited to the earth dance.
As brothers and sisters please do what you can,
to save our planet, so we can dance again.
Everyone’s invited to the earth dance.
Again I thank you all for making me comfortable to share with you.
The energy was about to rise up a few notches with our next act.
It seemed like as this next group entered the room our crowd peaked somewhere between 100 and 120 people.
Mais Um is a Brazillian style drum group. They get down with some deep bass grooves. Do you like to dance Samba, maybe do the Mombo? If you were not there, you gotta see these guys. They laid it down real good.
Thanks to Claudio and the group! You got everyone out dancing!
After 3 hours it was time for a break. We use this time to give out some groovy prizes. Many wonderful things were donated for raffles and you people helped boost our fundraiser by supporting this. If you donated an item I thank you very much for your thoughtfulness. You all make this part of the day special. There must have been at least 25 things given away to some happy people. The prizes which brought in the most money were an autographed N.Y. Yankees Jersey signed by #18 Johnny Damon and Mariano Rivera baseballs. These 3 took in almost $500 alone. You know my favorite is the traditional drum giveaway. This time we packaged a 10 Pc. percussion set including Bongo's. The lucky winner was Ed, the Djun Djun player of Ubuntu.
I hear he is ready to explore all the possibilities.... have fun Ed!
I offered a tribute to Buddy Miles who drummed for my man Jimi. We divided the room into quarters and sang and drummed to Power of Soul.
"With the power of Soul, anything is possible"...you get my drift....It felt gooood!
My friend Jesse who actually helped D.F.H. find The Wounded Warrior Project
was up next on stage. Jesse did some singin with a mix of 80's metal grooves. A bit different for a drum circle but recieved well. Jesse thanks for all the preperation help...He helped float alot of flyers and is my DVD specialist.
Your the man!
Speaking of floating... we floated into some heavy duty jammin for our last hour. Some funky beats went down. We be jammin Mon!
Brittany gave us a surprize performance of The Star Spangled Banner......
who knew? I would have had her open our day if I knew.
One last hurrah was still looming. We brought the roof down with a high energy JINGO JAM! I was singing Jingoooo, Jingo Ba, Go Ba ba, Go ba, Go BA ba, Go Ba, Jingo Ba! Had Mark Wood on Conga and myself on Bongo's.
It was totaly awesome. I had a total bash! 5 hours plus - later our time together was coming to a close.
I wish to thank everyone who has supported this drum circle fundraiser for the Wounded Warrior Project. Again many gave money, goods or services. This is all greatly appreciated and I'm sure will help make a difference in a returning vets life. Thanks for your love and support!
Oh and in case your wondering....duh...after covering expenses this was one of our top 2 D.F.H. fundraisers for charity.
Drum rollllllll please.......... ~~~~******~~~~*****
WE RAISED $3260. !!! Not bad for some ordinary people. I love you all!
Thanks again for sharing your time, talent and treasure. May your lives be full of peace, love and music, and remember too....
Sing on Brother... Play on Drummer... Dance little Sister Dance,
