Hey there friends. I wanted to let everyone know how great DRUMS from HEAVEN turned out. For those who were there, I thank you for your presence. We all created a wonderful vibe. The drumming and various percussion definitely moved my spirit.
For those who wanted to be there but could not make it, I do understand other commitments, distant travel and what was a beautiful day, may have kept some of you from coming out. We still had an estimated 75 beautiful people attend. It was cool meeting many of you who I only new from the internet drum circuit.
As with any drum circle there was an ebb-and-flow. Some highs and some lows but mostly a unified connection of high energy between all of us. We explored a variety of drum rhythms, from African to Brazilian to Mid-east with much free form in the mix. I believe there were many first timers to the call of the drum who had a wonderful experience. I sure hope you all journey to many more drum circles. I had a real fun time drumming and dancing with all of you. I hope our awareness was raised in our need to find ways to save the planet, through our Earth Day art and poetry and wonderful decorations.
It was a treat to have Sigi come in as our guest belly dancer. She was awesome!
I feel like she helped inspire more of us to come into the center of the circle and groove to the beat. Thanks Sigi! Also on hand was Dara Winters, a massage therapist who helped many of us with relaxing upper body massage. Dara, you had the right touch! Thank you!
During our last half hour we tried something completely different. We jammed with 2 great harmonica players, Richy Harps and one of his students, Zack. The drums and harps traded beats and licks to the Bo Didley beat. This was one of the high points for me!
Hope you dug it as much as me!
To all you people who donated goods or services, I thank you deeply and commend you for your generosity. We had a total of about $3000. worth of prize give-aways. 32 lucky people walked out with some beautiful prizes. One dude was very excited to win a djembe! Without naming names (you know who you are), I need to thank those of you who helped decorate, advertise, take pictures/video and those who worked during the event.
The Earth Day Drums from HEAVEN was a smashing success. On Sunday, April 22’nd we raised almost $1200.! To be used by The St. Philip’s Youth group to attend World Youth Day events. You make me so happy to share your love and kindness. Big hugs to all!
Thank you, Thank you , Thank you!
