Hi gang, this was forwarded from a friend of mine.
Merci
Hello drummers,
I am writing to tell you about an exciting drumming opportunity coming up on August 19th at Reservoir Park in Harrisburg. During the first (hopefully annual) Central Pennsylvania Women's Music Festival there will be two opportunities for drummers to perform/participate.
First, the festival will open at noon with a drum call -- women drummers placed all over the festival grounds will begin drumming individually and then slowly come together (physically and musically) to kick off the event. It should be a very powerful opening to an awesome day of women's music and art. If you would like to participate in this aspect of the event, bring your drum to the gate before noon and tell them you want to be part of the opening ceremony.
Second, the Baltimore-based women's drumming group Bumbada will be performing as part of the program. I don't know the exact time of the performance, but there will be an opportunity within their performance to join the group.
For more information, you can contact Tammi Hesson at Tammiwaffle@.... She is away this week drumming with Ubaka Hill at the Michigan Womyn's Music Festival, but will be back in PA on August 15th.
Women,Create! is one of the beneficiaries of this new festival and we are hosting the Women's Marketplace during the day. The festival begins at noon in Reservoir Park on the hill in Harrisburg and closes at 9:00 PM. It will be a great event so, even if you don't want to drum, be sure to attend the event. Not only will you be supporting Women,Create!, you'll also be supporting area women artists.
cheers,
Amy
