You may have heard of the recent incarceration (and release) of filmmakers
in the Nigeria who were documenting the effects of oil exploitation in the
Niger Delta on the local population. Below describes the opportunity to
see a preview of the film, and hear from the crew about the process (and
dangers) of making that film.

> On April 12th, four Seattle filmmakers and one Nigerian were
> detained by the Nigerian government, accused of traveling illegally
> in the Niger Delta. They were working on the film Sweet Crude, a
> documentary on the oil industry’s impact on Nigeria’s economy and
> environment.
>
> YPIN is pleased to host an evening with two of the film’s associate
> producers Maryella Keblusek & Ryan Hauck. They will give an update
> of the situation in Nigeria and will also recount circumstances
> leading to the detention and release of the Seattle filmmakers and
> Maryella’s husband Joel Bisina earlier this month.
>
> A 15-minute preview of Sweet Crude, a documentary now in post-
> production, will also be shown. Ryan and Maryella will give their
> perspective on the country and the film. They have visited Nigeria
> on numerous occasions and are working to improve education in the
> region. Maryella and Ryan will be available to answer questions as
