Our * DEPARTMENT OF GLOBAL HEALTH * has an outstanding opportunity for a *
PROGRAM ASSISTANT.* This individual will provide administrative support to the
Associate Chair for Education and Curriculum, and to the Executive Director of
Health Alliance International (HAI). The Program Assistant would also provide
support for the DHG Educational Programs in general. This position calls for
flexibility and organizational skills in response to shifting workloads and
priorities throughout the academic year. An appreciation and interest in
cultural differences is important, as the program supports students from across
the globe. Both the ability to work on a team and strong personal initiative
are required.

*_Duties:_*

_Assistant to Associate Chair for Education and Curriculum (AC)_
*Serve as administrative liaison between DGH and HAI activities.
*Coordinate and maintain AC’s calendar for both DGH and HAI.
*Arrange AC’s meetings with students, prospective students, faculty and staff.
*Maintain contact with AC during his travels to ensure his awareness of UW
events.
*Help respond to incoming communication.
*Assist with travel arrangements and reimbursements.
*Help edit presentations, letters and other documents for AC.
*Ensure HAI website remains current regarding AC’s speaking engagements.
*Provide other administrative support as needed.

_Assistant to Department of Global Health Educational Programs_
*Respond to inquiries regarding the International Health Program (IHP), Peace
Corps Masters International (PCMI), International Health (IH) Certificate, the
new Department of Global Health, and other department and school programs, and
campus services by phone, email and in meetings and presentations.
*Provide support to Program Coordinator for the admissions process, including
the traditional and PCMI Master's in Public Health (MPH) programs and the IH
Certificate.
*Manage Graduate Certificate in IH including tracking student progress,
responding to inquiries, holding periodic information sessions, organizing
capstone presentations.
*Advertise and provide room and equipment support as needed for seminars,
faculty and student forums and conferences, guest lectures, and other similar
public events.
*Manage the international health e-mail listserve; including membership,
monitoring material, researching and posting pertinent funding, international,
and student-related messages.
*Take meeting minutes as needed.
*Maintain student database.

Requirements:
High school graduation or equivalent AND two years of full-time clerical
experience OR equivalent education/experience.

*Proficient at Word and Excel and familiar with the Internet and electronic
calendars.
*Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
*Strong personal initiative and ability to work independently and prioritize
varied workload.
*Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
*Cross-cultural experience and interest.
Desired:
*Bachelor’s degree.
*Experience working within a university environment.
*Familiarity with UW administrative systems.
*Some international work and/or travel experience, particularly in less
developed countries.
*Experience working with students and the general public.
