Dear Friends: I am pleased to send notice of an excellent forum on March
16 at 7PM in Kane Hall at the UW - "Health Justice
in Action." with Quentin Young, Congressman Jim McDermott, and
Washington state representative Sherry Appleton.
Keynote speaker Dr. Quentin Young, for those who don't know him, is
probably the most revered figure in health rights and justice in the US
today. He marched in the civil rights movement, was personal physician to
Martin Luther King and Jesse Jackson, Co-founder of Physicians for a
National Health Program (PNHP), Past President of American Public Health
Association and PNHP, 2006 Lifetime Achievement Award ACLU, and on and on.
He will speak on "Prospects for Health Justice in Our Lifetime."
Congressman Jim McDermott will report on "Prospects for Health Justice in
the 110th Congress." Ms Appleton will speak on prospects for Washington
state health legislation this year.
This discussion of developments at the federal and state levels comes at a
time when there is more momentum building for comprehensive health care
reform than there has been for many years.
Please send this out to your respective lists and members. March 16 is
just two weeks away and we want to get the word out
ASAP.
Thanks,
David Loud
