Those of you with sentiments about the US role in Iraq may be interested
in the kinds of activities that the Seattle peace community has planned
for the coming week.

Urgent Time to Act for Peace with Iraq! The Supplemental Budget Request,
which seeks funds for the escalation and continued occupation of Iraq, is
now before Congress. Jim McDermott has signed on to the resolution of the
Progressive Caucus to bring the troops home within 6 months and is
intending to amend the supplemental to provide funds only to bring the
troops home. Our Senators have not committed to defund the war. THEY NEED
A NUDGE!

Thus SNOW, the Occupation Project, FOR, Military Families Speak Out and a
number of churches have committed to a series of actions at the Federal
Building where the Senators have their offices to dramatize the need to
stop the slaughter. Feb. 20-23 is a Congressional Recess so we hope to
communicate directly to the senators during that week.

Feb 20th-23rd. Legal Citizen presence at the Senators’ offices in two-hour
shifts from 9am-5pm

Feb 20th 10:30-1:30 pm Joe Colgan’s weekly witness at Fed Bldg plaza
Military Families Speak Out "Troops Out Now" Come join them!

Feb 21 Noon to 1 pm Ash Wednesday Observance with Liturgy and people from
many churches. Distribution of Religious Statements Against the War.

Feb 22 11-1 pm ; Die-In at Plaza, lying down rapped in white sheets,
Veterans Honor Guard, Trumpeter playing taps.

Feb 23 11-1 pm Plaza: Cost of Neglected Priorities at Home due to
Trillions spent on War. Cut outs of Hospitals, Schools, etc. Leaflet as a
bill for the war with cost of war for every taxpayer and what that money
could furnish in education, healthcare, etc
