Program Coordinator - Evans School of Public Affairs, Marc Lindenberg Center
The University of Washington’s Marc Lindenberg Center (MLC) for Humanitarian
Action, International Development and Global Citizenship has received a
contract from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation for the Gates Mapping Project
(GMP). The GMP will conduct research and policy analysis mapping and assessing
the institutional landscape of public health conditions and service provision
in 24 countries in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. The project develops and
supports a research network of collaborators from each country, a database of
public health conditions in each country, a database of detailed information
about 25-30 critical organizations from each country, and a series of
conferences and reports on behalf of the Gates Foundation. The project is the
first step in a larger project to build a worldwide network of research
collaborators, policy analysis, and database development.
The MLC has an outstanding opportunity for a *Program Coordinator*. This
individual will organize, manage and coordinate events surrounding
implementation of the Gates Mapping Project sponsored by the MLC. Perform
planning, administrative and outreach activities including: coordination of
daily operations, developing and managing specific activities, making staffing
recommendations and assisting with budget monitoring.

may be extended, subject to continued funding.

Duties & Responsibilities
• Direct and facilitate strategic planning activities for the Gates Mapping
Project sponsored by MLC. This includes working with and facilitating the
efforts of UW faculty in research, planning, organization, documentation and
disseminating minutes and reports.
• Organize and manage events relevant to the Gates Mapping Project and others
as needed, including speakers and guest lectures, conference workshops and
working groups.
• Conduct research, write, edit and prepare background materials, talking
points and newsletters in support of the Gates Mapping Project and other events
and activities as needed.
• Direct and oversee the daily operations and administration of the Gates
Mapping Project and others sponsored by MLC. Supervise undergraduate and
graduate student staff and monitor overall workflow of Project activities.
• Represent the MLC/Gates project to the public and throughout the University
of Washington. Participate on committees and act as liaison for the MLC at
meetings and activities within the Evans School of Public Affairs relevant to
the specific projects.
• Other duties as required.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Hire and supervise graduate and/or undergraduate student research assistants to
the Gates Mapping Project.

REQUIRED
High school graduation or equivalent and minimum of two years experience in
program management, public health, research management or related field.
Excellent computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Excellent writing, verbal and cross-cultural communication skills. Strong,
demonstrable experience in international research and writing skills.
/Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications
except when there are legal requirements, such as a
license/certification/registration.
