Steve Harvey has worked in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the United
States managing research or service projects related to maternal care and
other health issues. He has served as a consultant to the World Health
Organization on evaluation of skilled birth attendants and community
health worker use of malaria rapid diagnostic tests. Harvey has a Master
in Health Sciences from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public
Health, where he is currently completing his doctorate. He will speak
about why women in Ecuador make the delivery choices they do, and what
women who deliver at home identify as conditions essential to a "proper"
