WHAT:
The University of Washington Chapter of Universities Allied for
Essential Medicines (UAEM) welcome you to a non-partisan forum on
university-held intellectual property and global access to healthcare.
The forum will be held in the physics building (room A-102) of the
University of Washington campus on Wednesday, October 5th from
5:30-7:30pm and is open to the public. Speakers from the UW Law School,
School of Public Health, the Technology Transfer Office, Seattle
Biomedical Research Institute, and Seattle University Law School will
share their knowledge and perspectives on intellectual property as it
relates to access to essential medicines. Five to ten minute
presentations will be followed by an interactive Q&A session.
Refreshments will be available throughout the panel.
This event is co-sponsored by the American Medical Association-Medical
Student Section at UWSOM, FOSEP (Forum on Science, Ethics, and Policy),
Washington Physicians for Social Responsibility, Community Alliance for
Global Justice, Amnesty International – Puget Sound, UW, Student AIDS
Action Network, Alpha Epsilon Delta Premed Honor Society, and Students
for Fair Trade.
