This will be an important event for people in the area concerned about the
proliferation of trade agreements - which often benefit corporate
interests over the well-being of the environment, labor, and public
health.

Subject: Thursday March 31st: Key Seattle-Area Trade Hearing
Dear Friends in Washington,
Please join partner organizations from a broad spectrum of progressive
groups this Thursday night, March 31st at 6:30pm for a critical
community meeting on the U.S. Central America Free Trade Agreement
(CAFTA) at the University of Washington.
As you know, CAFTA--the NAFTA expansion to Central America--is the key
link in the Bush administration's efforts to expand the worst parts of
NAFTA to the hemisphere and the world.
Congressional hearings will begin on CAFTA in Washington DC in early
April, and so the fight to stop this retrograde agreement is heating up.
There is no part of the country more important than the Puget Sound,
where all of the congressional representatives are currently publicly
undecided on CAFTA. We need your help to turn the tide.
Please read the below invite from our labor allies, and join them at
the event this Thursday!
To get more involved w/ the fight to stop CAFTA, contact Global Trade
Watch at (202) 454-5111
Yours,
David Edeli

U.S. Representative Jim McDermott has invited panelists and other
members of the U.S. Congress to a forum to talk about CAFTA. Community
and labor organizations from around the state are coming together to
send the message to our elected leaders that CAFTA is another failed
trade agreement.
Please join us on
