******REGISTRATION NOW OPEN******
THIRD ANNUAL WESTERN REGIONAL INTERNATIONAL HEALTH CONFERENCE
FEBRUARY 18-20, 2005
UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON, SEATTLE
www.pspgh.org

Registration is now open for the Third Western Regional International
Health Conference. The theme for this year's conference is "Politics,
Social Justice, and Global Health." The conference is an educational forum
for health science students, faculty, and community members interested in
learning more about global health issues and opportunities. The goal is to
educate and inspire participants through a weekend of lectures,
discussions, and other events focused on the theme.

Our featured keynote speaker is Dr. Mirta Roses Periago, Regional Director of
the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO). The conference will also include
lectures and discussions centered around the following sub-topics:

a) The health effects of social and economic disparities, including power
structures, conflict, and globalization.
b) The status of women, children, refugees, and other unempowered groups.
c) Access to healthcare and health as a human right.
d) How to work and advocate for social justice as a health care provider.

University of Washington health science students and Puget Sounds Partners for
Global Health have been working to bring together lecturers and panelists with
extensive experience and interest in global health. We anticipate a
stimulating
and educational conference, and we hope to see you there.

For more information and to register, please go to www.pspgh.org and click on
"Conferences and Events". The cost is $25 for students and $50 for
non-students.

Sincerely,
Laura Certain and Daren Wade, Conference Co-Chairs
