Dear Colleague,



This is just a brief note to let you know about our fall quarter UW
Extension Speaker Series. The topic is Global Health Issues Confronting the
World Community. Topic presenters will be experts in their fields from our
own community and from the University of Washington. I believe the issues
raised in this series will be of interest to many of your colleagues. The
following topics will be presented and discussed:

* Impact of disparities in wealthy and low-income nations
* HIV & STD's: Global strategies and implications
* Worldwide TB incidence: Detection and treatment goals
* Malaria - 500 million annual cases
* Global epidemic of malnutrition: Hunger and health outcomes
* Health and the global water supply
* Maternal and child health, mortality and population dynamics
consequences
* The future of global health: Intervention strategies and global
interdependence
