Seattle is known as 'the place' where consciousness-raising about the
effects of globalization on normal folks became a large-scale and visible
effort. The International Forum on Globalization held major events during
the WTO protests in 1999. Now, many of these same internationally-known
activists are coming to Seattle for the Northwest Social Forum. This is a
great chance to find out what all the fuss is about (and, to get involved
in case you already know).
Public health needs to be a larger presence at these events! More
information on a UW SPHCM event to follow.

Northwest Social Forum: Another World Is Possible!
Modeled on the World Social Forums (the grassroots response to the annual
World Economic Forums), the Northwest Social Forum will bring together
activists working on issues of social justice, economic justice, and
environmental sustainability throughout the region. Activists in Alaska,
British Columbia, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington, and the Yukon will
come together to share their work, strategize, and offer one another
inspiration and support. We encourage everyone interested in social,
economic, environmental, and global justice to help organize and attend
the NWSF.
