Subject: Urge U.S. to support women’s health
Dear Friend:
Please contact President Bush and Secretary Powell, and urge them to fully support and reaffirm the commitment of the United States to the goals and principles of the landmark Cairo Programme of Action--the international consensus setting forth a road map for improving women's health and the commitment of governments to support it. For more information about the Cairo Programme of Action, click here.
Next week, on March 10-11, 2004, in Santiago, Chile, representatives of the U.S government will be participating in a United Nations regional meeting to review progress made towards achieving the goals of this global consensus. During a similar meeting in Bangkok in 2002, the United States was the only country that did not fully reaffirm its original commitment. The U.S. is expected to take similar measures in Santiago.

We cannot let the U.S. government turn its back on the women who want and need reproductive health care. Please contact President Bush and Secretary Powell, and urge them to fully reaffirm the commitment of the United States to all the goals and principles of the Cairo Programme of Action.
