Hello,

My name is Caterina and I am a graduate student in the School of Social Work and
the School of Public Affairs at the University of Washington. I am taking a
policy advocacy seminar and my small group (3 of us) has chosen to work on the
federal Depleted Uranium Bill sponsored by WA Rep. Jim McDermott.

After thorough searching, I have gathered a list of individuals both statewide
and national, who I feel may be interested in participating in our National
Depleted Uranium Action Day.

Our plan is as follows:

On May 29th, International Depleted Uranium Day, we plan to table at two
locations on the University of Washington campus. We will be showing a DU video
and handing out DU literature. We will be gathering signatures on postcards to
the Health SubCommittee of the House Energy and Commerce Committee (or the main
committee if it has already returned to them).

We also plan to release an email a couple of days prior to DU day, asking folks
to take action on May 29th, in support of the bill. This will include background
DU info, the toll free number for the US Congress, individual #'s for each
member of the committee and the Energy and Commerce committee's website to
submit feedback.

In addition to this advocacy email, we have sample snail mail letters to your
Reps. to support the bill as well as a sample letter requesting your Rep. to
co-sponsor the bill. We will include a contact email address for folks to
request these samples if they would like.

We would appreciate if you would forward this advocacy email to your mailing
lists prior to May 29th, DU Action Day as well as participate individually in
our activities on that day!
