HAVE A HEART - SAVE THE CHILDREN OF IRAQ
A Children's Peace Parade

TIME: 12:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m., Sunday, February 16, 2003 Parade will be
at
2:30 and will walk up and down the sidewalks of Greenwood/Phinney
Avenue.
(From the Phinney Neghborhood Center to 80th Street and back.)

PLACE: Phinney Neighborhood Center, Yellow Social Hall, Lower Building.

COST: $3.00 donation requested at door and/or bake sale item. Money to
go to
Bert Sack's Iraqi Children's Project. No one turned away. Everyone
who

comes gets a red paper heart with the picture of an Iraqi child to pin
on.

SPEAKERS: (@ 12:45 or 1:00 p.m., about a 15 minute program) Bert Sacks
is an
Iraqi Children's Advocate who has been to Iraq more than 10 times. He
b! rings
photos and stories from children he's met there and their families.
He'll be
offering a welcome and then inviting people to talk with him at his
table.

Neighborhood Ministers/Buddhists/Priests/Spiritual Leaders will also
offer
welcomes. Spritual Leaders, please contact us if you want to have a
presence.

INDOOR MUSIC: Children's Singer-Songwriter, Dave Hill and possibly
members of
the Phinney Chorus. We'd love a children's chorus, other singing
groups,
singer/songwriters with kids' and/or peace songs.

KIDS' CRAFT PROJECT: Cardboard Peace Doves on sticks to be made at
tables
from 12:30 - 2:30 p.m. with adult supervision. Doves to be carried in
parade. Join us for Arts and Crafts night to prepare dove craft and
red

paper hearts on 2/6/03 in Phinney neighborhood! See contact below to
get
info. Get out that glue and those scissors!

PARADE: Leaves at 2:30 p.m. with ! crafts for carrying, giant puppets
and
street musicians. Sam Eliasen and group of street musicians to lead
the

parade. Calling all street performers, puppeteers and musicians! And
calling
all kids!

INFORMATION: Tables with info about Bert's children, contact info for
local
antiwar effort and info about Iraqi conflict. We will also invite
everyone to
write/draw on a scroll asking President Bush to avoid war and save the
children!

FOOD: Volunteers and attending parents to bring baked goods for Bake
Sale
with money donated to Iraqi children. Punch and coffee have both been
donated. Cups, napkins and plates have been donated by Metropolitan
Cards
and Gifts.

Hurray! A colorful, fun event!

will go up after 1/25/03.
