From the people that I know with NF(my daughter, her father and aunt, and her
grandpa), there is depression for sure. Also, there tends to be insomnia, which
I'm not sure if it's related to NF or not, but it seems to run in that side of
the family either because of or just along with the NF. I think depression and
self-esteem issues make a lot of sense because of the misunderstanding about the
disorder in terms of school and behavior in kids ( with NVLD). I see that now
there is more of an understanding, but I can imagine when my daughter's father
and grandfather were in school they must have felt helplessly lost since there
was not a lot of info about NF.
