Alan Bachers bringing some information to this group dormant now for some months.  Medscape, a subsidiary of WebMD is publishing an online journal for which they are soliciting submissions.  I am copying below their 15 reasons to submit material.  It seems to me that some of our neurofeedback-based findings might well make an appearance here.  With the very wide distribution and linkage to the greater database of medical literature that this venue affords, our exposure is taken beyond our parochial, and largely uncitable, "journals."  I see this less to be appealing to the medical profession than to be a vehicle to get our work to a larger audience, increasing the number of citations through which neurofeedback can become known.

Here are the 15 reasons:  Registration to the site can be accomplished at:  http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/567748?src=mp

  1. Tolerant and educational editorial and peer-review process. We never reject an article because of lack of space or paper; we have no paper. We never require a paper to be shortened because of lack of space, only to improve it and to not bore the reader. We accept papers solely based on their final quality and the level of perceived reader interest.

  2. Indexed by Medline/PubMed since 2000 with standard citations. Also, full text in PubMed Central, and audio-video elements distributed via Yahoo and iTunes to iPods and by YouTube and Google Video.

  3. Never a financial charge to readers or to authors, who, in final recognition of a medical journal as a public trust, own the data and the information.

  4. World's fastest median turnaround time to publication for a general medical journal; considering all submissions, median of 42 days over years of experience, including peer review, revision, production, and distribution.

  5. World's largest potential reach for a primary-source medical journal; The Medscape Journal of Medicine is on the platform of the giant Medscape, thus available free of charge to all of the many millions of registered Medscape members in 237 countries.

  6. World's largest registered permission database of physicians, for weekly email push distribution via MedPulse newsletters.

  7. No restrictions or constraints of readership or authorship by country or ethnicity or specialty or medical association membership or financial ability to subscribe or, for that matter, by having to be a physician.

  8. No editorial bias against non-American authors, Medscape nonmembers, nor against authors from developed or developing countries that may experience bias from other publications.

  9. We welcome articles pertinent to all medical and surgical specialties and to the public health, whether best suited for one of our several specialty sections, or for journal core.

  10. Credibility assured by absolute editorial independence and no owner interference in content selection.

  11. Never a concern about what topics may be "politically correct" if the topic is in the best interest of the health of the public or individual patients or the integrity of the medical profession.

  12. Ethical editorial behavior, actively governed by the Uniform Guidelines of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME).

  13. Publishing policies and rigorous peer-review processes sanctioned by a world-class Editorial Board from many countries, disciplines, and modes of practice.

  14. Your Medscape Journal article may also be converted into a Category I CME activity, enhancing its readership and impact on medical practice.

  15. Unique, instantaneous, interactive postpublication peer review via an unfiltered discussion board.

When we began Medscape General Medicine in 1999 as "the original open-access general medical journal," we were virtually alone as an exclusively electronic medical journal. Now there are many, most notably the families of BioMed Central in the United Kingdom and of the Public Library of Science in San Francisco, since this method of publication is now known to be better, faster, and cheaper. We have nothing against paper; we just don't want to furnish it, bind it, and have to delay your reading by sending it through the mail. Press the print button if you need to read on paper. And tell us if you wish to apply to join our hundreds of peer reviewers.

Thanks for reading, watching, and listening.

I'm Dr. George Lundberg, Editor-in-Chief, The Medscape Journal of Medicine, Medscape Core, and eMedicine.
