It is quite a good idea. Look at China how they have progressed in health care. It is because of integrated approach. The potential for such an endevour is much greater in India.

Sir SC decision is very right if one has no knowledge of the system how they can practice that.
Scientific validation is utmost important for practice.
But reality is this in our country that almost every physician of Ayurveda and Allopathy are prescribing cross medicines apart from their official/graduated system of medicine. One can not ignore the prescriptions which are coming out from Allapathic doctors of products of Himamlaya,Alarsin .Gufic etc.Fundamentals of these drugs have not been studied by them.
Reality is very eye opening in other side where almost every AYUSH doctors are using allopathic medicines.
So best solution is inclusion of best of every pathy and trained doctors in that with optimum proportion.

Many ayurvedic physicians are prescribing allopathic medicines and vice versa
It is pathetic to know that many of them prescribe without undergoing training or pursuing any study
Ayurvedic practiotioners prescribe allopathic medicines to give their patients quick relief which is not possible with ayurvedic products
Hence I am of strong opinion that cross curriculum should be developed so that the practitioners will get knowledge about other practices
This cross curriculum also helps patients to check side effects. Because if a patient is taking ayurvedic medicines and get another health problem and goes or needs to go to allopathic practitioner especially in emergency conditions. In this case the allopathic practitioner should have enough knowledge on the ayurvedic drugs that the patient is already under treatment
Cross curriculum definitely benefit the patients and also practitioners
It is suggested to include few subjects of other pathies to the regular curriculum

Countries like China and Vietnam have already integrated their native therapies into mainstream medical education and practice. It is high time that India evolves an all-encompassing curriculum for Undergraduate level course.
In my view, only one undergraduate course should be there, where, all positive points from all therapies are included along with modern system of medicine, ie, allopathy.
In post graduation level, different specializations may be offered in individual therapies.
This will have the following benefits:
1. Unnecessary overlapping of many subjects like Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry etc can be avoided.
2. Basic knowledge in modern medicine will only add up to the clinical skills of a doctor, irrespective of his or her stream.
3. One will have access to modern diagnostic methods/ research methods. (Today, an Ayurveda graduate is not exposed sufficiently to the basics of clinical methods/ research methods/ diagnostic methods..)
4. This will diminish inter-therapy rivalry (among the professionals).
Regards,
Kishor
