Hello all!
I am SO thrilled to have found this group!
I am newly pregnant, a Canadian living in Ankara for two years. We will likely
stay here for the birth of our child, but we are VERY concerned about the
C-section rate in Turkey. Although surgery is necessary in emergencies, of
course, we want to do everything we can to have as natural a birth as possible.
Our entire philosopy about the medicalization of pregnancy and birth seems at
odds with the practices here.
At home in Canada, we would have a midwife and give birth in a Birth Centre.
Here, though, the options seem so much more limited. We've even considered
flying to Canada for the birth, and then flying back to Ankara a month later
(but I'd like to avoid this if possible, given the expense and complications it
would entail).
If anyone can direct me to any natural childbirth resources/options in Ankara, I
would be so thankful. Can anyone recommend a doctor who believes in natural
birth in this city? And if anyone knows of an English-speaking midwife or doula
living in Ankara, that would be a dream come true!
Thank you so very very much for your help!
