hi, i'm Tamahine and i set up this yahoo group. i've been quiet for a while as we've moved to england but this mail has come to my attention as i brought in everything from england as you did and actually made my own cloth nappies from cotton towel that you can buy in bulk etc. of course its a great idea and these products are much needed, many friends wanted to use cloth nappies but of course couldn't find them easily. The key would obviously be how to market. if you've ever been to the ecological fairs in istanbul there are stalls that sell organic baby clothes etc. but they are expensive comparatively. because of my husbands connections with bugday (the ecologic organisation) they have a good experience of how to market such products to the eco niche group and know of successes and failures of the past. you could perhaps co-operate somehow as bugday has a large following, or advertise in the magazine. there is also a women Sule, who produces wooden toys, she is turkish but lived in german for many years and brought her children up there in steiner schools etc. so when she came back to turkey she started to produce wooden toys. i could put you in touch if you like.
i'm sorry i havn't been able to keep up with mails for a few months so i've not kept up with previous correspondences, this is just what came to mind as i read this.

Subject: [naturalbirthturkey] Business Idea
I'd like some opinions on a business idea that I've been turning over in my head. Since most of you are naturally-minded parents, I figured this would be a good place to start.
When I was pregnant with Ahmet, I had to go to the states to get the supplies I "needed" to be the kind of parent I wanted to be--cloth diapers, sling, parenting books, etc. Even now, I find it hard to get the kinds of toys and clothes and whatnot that I wouldn't think twice about in the US. I've been turning over the idea of a natural parenting store (web-based), but have doubts about how well it would work in Turkiye. Ideally, I'd like to be able to provide products for a range of ages, from newborn to school-age and maybe beyond. Things like baby carriers (slings, wraps, mei-teis, etc), cloth diapers of all varieties, natural organic baby care products, and wooden toys are the products that immediately spring to mind.
Obviously I'd have to import these products and I haven't even thought about looking into that yet, but am wondering if there would be enough interest to warrent it, even on a small scale. Thoughts? Comments?
