Hi, this is Julia writing. Thanks Tamahine for getting the ball
rolling! Mid January works well for me for the time being. I would
personally suggest a weekend meeting time, as some people are coming
from a distance, although I dont know everyone's work schedules. We may
also want to have 2 consecutive days together to get to know eachother
and really set the groundwork for what we want to accomplish. My
schedule is pretty flexible, just Thursdays are generally not good.
I'll just wait to hear back from everyone else re their schedules and
then we can set a date and I'll send directions.

I think Tamahine's agenda looks like a good starting point, and will
probably turn out to be quite a lot for one meeting. There are a lot of
issues at work there!

Looking forward to meeting you all!
Blessings,
Julia

Thats great, so we just wait to hear from everybody when they can make it.
Something else has come to light. Some tv guys from TRT came to 'us'
(bugday) yesterday to make a small programme about volunteering (tatuta) so
i also had a chance to talk to them about our subject and get sożme advice.
Firstly they said that the media is starting to get interested in this
subject so they will forward on our details to these people. They said that
newspapers would be the best to start with - printing womens stories (and
this is what they did in Poland to begin) and then they suggested that we
launch a Press Release. We need a group of you proffessionals to present and
then answer questions. Victor said that Bugday would certainly support and
help us to organise this as they have experience in this kind of thing. The
tv guys were very sympathetic as one of thier wives also had an unwanted
c-section.

Personally i would like to make a documentary of a womans story with hidden
cameras to see how many different dr s give different reason s to
operate......

Hope to hear from you soon,

T x

hi all,

since i can t make it to Istanbul because i am in Bangladesh, I can only
offer to press my ex-boyfriend,who edits a lifestyle magazine in Istanbul, i
am quite sure he would print your story, or an article about natural birth,
if you are interested. Here in Bangladesh also all doctors try to force
women to get a cesarian, middle-class of course. in the villages it s still
the old thing, thanks to public underserving, there are no doctors. But
lately i even discovered a donor foundation whose founder is a doctor and he
promotes "safe motherhood" for third world countries, which means cesarian
instead of natutal birth. What a sad story.
I wish you all the best, and keep my fingers crossed for you guys,

andrea
