It is great to have a new midwife in our presence. I'm not sure how much you
know about the state of birth and midwifery in Turkey, but please let us know if
you have any questions.
Kate,
I know you are at least somewhat aware of the situation here. Please let us
know when you have started La Leche League meetings--I have loads of women I
would like to send your way.
Our group is currently going through a bit of a down time, with Jasmin having
returned to Germany and Tamahine to England. As the core organizational group,
only Sibel and I (Julia) remain. We are still in the process of formulating a
mission statement and definitive plan of action.
We are currently working with Barbara Harper to organize an international
midwifery conference in Istanbul next October. Anyone interested in helping
with that project would be very welcome. I think that for right now, that's all
of a project we can handle, with everyone living in different locations and
having such busy lives.
I think it would be a great idea to get together and form a new core group of
active members. Sibel and I have talked about this, but have not settled on a
date.
I think that Istanbul would be the easiest venue, since most of us are here it
seems. I can offer my place as a meeting location, or if anyone else would like
to host or suggest a location, that would be great.
How would Sat 20 October from 10-2 be for anyone who is interested in being
involved in the "management" or "leadership" of the group? Please suggest any
other dates if this is not good for you. I am suggesting weekends for anyone
working or traveling from out of town.
Take care all! Looking forward to getting this show back on the road!
