hi - glad things are going ok - the group sounds good too.

  

funding-

  

first thing is what do you twan the funding for?

  

you should really take a big step back from thoughts of funding and money and concentrate initially on exactly what the group is for and what do you want to achieve - the overall aim maybe not be the same as the aim of the first "project"

  

for example the overall aim might be to make natural childbirth accetable and accessible to every woman in turkey but that is obviously not achievable within a realisitc timeframe - so decide what the first project is going to be - keep it simple and achievable - for example producing a leaflet in turkish (and english?) that explains, in non judgemental terms the benefits of natural childbirth - finging examples of women's experiences - good and bad as well as proving the scientific questions ie the lower infant mortality rate in the Nehterlands compared to countries using

hospital situations etc

  

identifying the barriers to change would also be a good project - eg - the attitudes of doctors and midwives - the funding could be for a research project to see how natural childbirth would fit into the current system - what are the barriers that turkish women percieve? perhasp you need money to run some confidence and capacity building sessions with one particular group of women to give them the tools to go and talk to their doctors

  

in many ways, funding is the last thing that you want becaue you need to work on yourselves as a group - ie no-one will give money to an organisation that cannot show that they can manage it and that they can manage a project and that they can worj together as a group

  

and second you need to work on the idea - the project - what exactly is it and how does it fit into the bigger picture

  

hope that`was useful - it may sound frustrating but building a strong foundation and

having a clear plan are the keys to making a project work

hi kathy - i need your adive about something. we have just had our first natural birth meeting and it was great. i want to explore the possibilities of eu funding for things like - education programmes, or basically any avenue of funding that could help our cause. i wouldnt even know how to begin such a thing, can you help me?
