About the movie
You don’t need to be pregnant to find this movie interesting!  With solid expert opinions, concrete facts and anecdotal experience The Business of Being Born presents us with the current state of birthing in the US and takes us through a variety of birthing journeys in and outside of the hospital. This film explains how fear and money are changing the cycle of interventions and ultimately the way we give birth. Understanding the parallels between the systems in the US and Turkey may inspire you to begin questioning and researching your options in order to achieve the birth you desire.
About us
American doula, childbirth educator and infant massage instructor Julia Steils  has been living and working with families in Turkey since 2003.  She completed her studies with DONA, Birthing from Within and the Foundation for Healthy Family Living in the US and has worked with families and attended many births both here and in the US.
Nur and Basak are training to become childbirth educators with Childbirth International and assisting Midwife Asude Oflaz in her antenatal classes.
