Hello Elizabeth,
I also asked in the Turkish group dogaldogum2008 the same guestion. Some of the memebers wrote their opinions.
They have found the translation a little bit hard to understand. But I dont think its because of the translation.
The book is very deep for the Turkish readers. It contains very usefull deep knowledge but they are not too obvious as the Turkish reader needs.
I think he tried to be carefull about not to scare women against cesarean. And he was succesfull about it.
But I think the book is very succesfull. It makes the reader to think about all the positive and begative affeects of the cesarean at the same time.
Bye the way I'm just back from Istanbul. 2 of the course members asked me to join their natural birth experience.
I witnessed 2 wonderfull, natural, human births. They were both family births ( I call them a family birth when the husband also joins the birth)
One of the had a really long latent phase. Approximately 36 hours. It was not easy to be patient enough to wait.
In my organization I work with a midwife- doula- childbirth educator lady. She takes care of the women at home , up to 5 cm. Then I transfer the to the hospital.
At the hospital we also follow the rule of not using any interventions.
Yesterdey for both of the births it worked very well. They were both very satisfied with their own birthing experience and had the chance to bond with their new born baby immediately.
No epiziotomies even though one of the babies was 4000 gr. And no big tears as well.
Yes ladies...
It happens slowly. We are growing, the supporters of natural birth. Slowly but strongly.
Elizabeth, would you like to work in Bursa like this ??

Dear all,I got my Turkish copy of Sezaryen today and I am so excited! I wish that I could read Turkish better to understand Dr. Coker's preface (no English summary available?? hint * hint * hint *=)).Has anybody given a copy to a Turkish friend/doctor? What has the response been?I was talking to a "high society" friend of mine today here in Bursa who was telling me that in her opinion "Natural Birth" (technically, "Vaginal Birth", but let's not be picky considering what we are up against!) is really "gaining in popularity" among the upper class here. Good news! I'm all for "trendy" as long as it is a move in the right direction, whatever the true motivation.Take care,Elizabeth, CPM
