Hi Ksenija,
There are some other email support groups that spend a lot of
time discussing traditional PCa therapies, Lupron, etc. They may
have more info about side effects. Check out
http://www.phcagroups.org/grsubsc.htm and
http://www.prostatepointers.org/prostate/sub.html The main
websites for these groups have a lot of information, as well.
Best wishes,
Geoff Golner
Hi Group!
Here I am a new "kid on the block" and I have all of these questions. Thanks for the help you have already given me in clearing up some of them.
I know that this is a natural prostate treatment group andyou use natural therapies but have any of you at one time been, or know of anyone who has been, on Lupron? I am concerned about its many serious, side effects.. The Lupron package has a long list of warnings.. In light of my husband's advanced PCa, Lupron is not a treatment of choice but, for the present, a necessity. It is my hope that in the near future myu husband can switch over to Prostasol.
I have to acknowledge that Lupron, together wiyth Cassodex) brought my husban'ds PSA level down very quickly.. Now that he has been on Lupron alone, there was a slight rise in his PSA last month. This concerns me.
From my researach I got the impression (I might have the facts all wrong) that Lupron signals the pituatery to block production of hormones. I don't think it can <selectively> tell the <pituatary> to <only< shut off estridiol and testosterone production without also <> other systems of the body. I see changes. He is becoming anemic. This is one of the side-effexcts of Lupron. Each new blood test shows a drop in hemoglobin, another side effect of Lupron. His hair and skin have become dry. I think his thyroid is being affected.
What has your experience been?
Thank you for respondng to my concerns.
Ksenija.
