People are definitely being dosed with BCG right now.

Where there might be confusion is due to the information that was
recently published regarding preclinical work that was done on
blood samples over the last few years, which provided a "proof of
concept" that this protocol, which was successful in mice, also works
in the blood of humans, and not just mice.

The trial now is administering BCG to people, and gathering data to
see if the drug is safe (which everyone expects it to be since it has
such a long record of being safe - 80+ years of usage worldwide), and
also to collect data of any changes to the levels of autoimmunity
(defective T-cells) and other indicators (e.g. C-peptide, etc.) in
the blood in the trial participants to see if there's any changes
that might point to a corrective process. They are using the blood
assay equipment that was developed to check the number of defective t-
cells and see if they are reducing.
