Good morning all,
I hope this finds you well and looking
forward to summer. Just so we’re on the same page, here is the
paragraph from the letter to the JoinLeeNow State Captains:
As you all know last spring The Iacocca Foundation decided not to wait
to fund the Nathan-Faustman project, regardless of monies raised.
We’re pleased to announce that over $8.5 million has been received to
date, and we will be releasing an additional $1.8 million on June 15th
for Dr. Faustman’s project. And Dr. Faustman will be providing an
update soon – we’ll let you know when it’s available online.
The $8.5 million is strictly JoinLeeNow
fundraising results, including major donors, corporate support and grassroots
efforts, since we began JoinLeeNow in 2004. As Sue writes (and as
everyone should know from previous correspondence) The Iacocca Foundation has
released two $1.3 million payments to Dr. Faustman. We have a commitment
to provide $10 million in total, with the
I’m planning an e-Lee newsletter to
our email distribution after the update from Dr. Faustman. If you’re
not on our e-Lee distribution list please visit our website and sign up on the “Contact
Us” page.
I hope this clears things up. Let me
know if there are any other questions.

Hi Deanne,
I did not get a copy of the letter as I'm no longer a JLN State
Captain. I imagine that the $8.5 million total in the letter may mean to
include all of the dollars given to Dr. Faustman's lab from Iacocca
Foundation over the last 7 or 8 years, before the JLN effort started. This
is of course very important and highly appreciated as Dr. Faustman's
discoveries in mice may never have come about without these dollars. However,
if this is the case, it should be clarified for people.

Hi Sue,
Well , I was reading it right from the letter as I was typing the e-mail, unless I misunderstood something. I was trying to copy it exactly. What do you think, as I'm sure you got a letter also? I certainly do not want to give any false information, as this research is so very important to me.

Date: Fri, 25 May 2007 06:06:32 -0700 (PDT)Are you sure the letter read $8.5 million was already given? I was under the impression that out of the $10 million pledged by The Iacocca Foundation to the Nathan/Faustman project, that 2 so-called "payments" of $1.3 million have been actually given to MGH thus far.
Is the $1.1 million from the golf after expenses? I hope so..that would be great!

He had been busy with the Iacocca Celebrity Golf Tournament, which raised over $1.1 million. According to his letter, over $8.5 million has been given already, and they will be releasing another $1.8 million to Dr Faustman on June 15th. Dr Faustman will be providing an update soon, just waiting for that now.

would begin in 2006, that obiously did not happen.
