Unlike some folks, you have been paying attention and are likely
correct as far as the timing of phase 1 clinical trials. Info is

For those who are impatient, money is needed before any project can
start. If the JDRF had provided the funding that was requested many
years ago, the first phase of the trials would be completed by now.
Like someone said, three cheers for Bike the Miles, the Iacocca
Foundation and the others who donated to the Cure Diabetes Now fund at
MassGeneral. Put your money where your mouth is or don't complain.
