I've had type 1 for 21 years -- and I have to tell everyone that the discovery Dr. Faustman has made is, by far, the most impressive. I've heard many times before "the cure is coming" -- but not once did I see where it was going to come (or without immunosuppression). The hypothesis behind her research is more logical than anything I've seen or read about. It rubs me the wrong way that the JDRF didn't support her findings with a) the money b) eternal gratitude and c) a parade to raise awarness. Okay -- maybe not the last one, so much-- but you get what I'm saying. It's atrocious how they reacted to her -- after she sat on the board of JDRF for years, too. Very disappointing.

 

Support is what we need to see this research through to the end -- not sarcasm ;)
