Position Title: Social Worker (Bilingual in English and Cantonese)
(Full-Time)
Status: Exempt

APA Family Support Services (formerly Asian Perinatal Advocates) is a community based organization focusing on the prevention and identification of child abuse/neglect in the Asian and Pacific Islander (API) communities. Our mission is to promote healthy families and prevent child abuse and domestic violence in the API communities. APA provides family support, case management, and parent/community education services on issues of domestic violence, child abuse, and parenting for high risk families with children ages 0-14. We currently have an opening for a Bilingual Social Worker.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Conduct and coordinate services to include intake, assessment, and referrals to internal services and community service providers;
2. Perform psychosocial screening and assessment for children and families that we serve;
3. Plan and implement program services for families and children based on program guidelines;
4. Provide crisis intervention, therapy and case management to clients;
5. Develop and coordinate culturally appropriate psychosocial managed care plan to identify and resolve stress factors related to potential child abuse and neglect in families served;
6. Obtain, collect, and analyze information or data for use by interdisciplinary team, and identify barriers to client's developmental objectives and plans;
7. Manage and supervise program staff as assigned;
8. Develop agency materials including program brochures;
9. Facilitate and participate in agency
meetings;
10. Conduct outreach and recruitment activities to the targeted population to effectively promote program services;
11. Prepare and maintain required documentation and reports for funding and statistical compliance;
12. Identify community service needs or gaps and stimulate the development of such services;
13. Maintain ongoing relationships with community service providers, funders, and other agencies/ programs to educate and advocate for the needs of the API communities;
Qualifications:
- Master's Degree (MSW/MA) in social services with experience in areas of children and family services, medical social work, ethnic social work with child abuse focus. LCSW or MFT preferred or license eligible;
- FLUENCY in spoken CANTONESE required;
- Supervisory experience helpful;
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills in interviewing techniques, crisis intervention and case management services;
- Knowledge of community resources, structure and organization and how to intervene constructively on clients' behalf;
- Ability to develop skills allowing for independent work, exercise judgment in making decisions as well as to cooperate and work as part of an interdisciplinary team;
- Team player with warmth, sensitivity and sense of humor a must;
- Strong advocacy for the Asian/Pacific Islander communities;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Ability to maintain case records in a clear and concise manner.
