JOB SUMMARY

 

 Golden Gate Regional Center is a not-for-profit that provides assistance to allow developmentally disabled individuals to lead independent and productive lives. The majority of our 200+ employees are located in the San Francisco office, but GGRC also has offices in Marin and San Mateo. This position is based out of SF office.

 

 

Under the direction of the Assistant Chief, Social Work Services or the designated Supervising Social Worker, the social worker participates in the assessment of the needs of clients who are developmentally disabled and the needs of their families and develops, implements and coordinates the client's Individual Program Plan; acts as advocate for the client; and does related work as required. 

 

 Social Worker positions have the responsibility for managing a wide range of active cases requiring the skills of a professionally trained social worker, including creative planning in seeking and acquiring services for people. 

 

 

DUTIES

 

•Participates in the initial and/or continuing social assessments of persons with developmental special needs and in overall case planning;

•Acts as an advocate with client/family to assure receipt of entitled services and to assure client's rights are achieved;

•Provides outreach services as assigned;

•Obtains or collects information or data for use by interdisciplinary team;

•Designs, monitors and revises the program plan;

•Analyzes data and identifies barriers to client's developmental objectives and plans;

•Encourages clients and their families to fully participate in coordinating and utilizing the resources available;

•May provide intake services;

•Reviews and insures that the clients receive appropriate services from existing community resources;

•Initiates referrals and monitors progress of vendored services;

•Evaluates availability and effectiveness of services;

•May initiate and terminate regional center funding and insure that purchased services are provided;

•Identifies community service needs or gaps and stimulates the development of such services;

•Assists community resources in improving the quality of services to the disabled;

•Prepares written and verbal reports;

•Participates in internal and community committees and task forces as assigned;

•Has responsibility for maintaining client records. 


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

 

•Bachelors Degree from an accredited school of social welfare or related human services field required; Master's preferred.

•FLUENCY in spoken and written CANTONESE

•Demonstrated interest in working with persons with developmental special needs;

•California driver's license and automobile required.

•Knowledge of principles, objective and techniques of counseling individuals;

•Knowledge of normal and abnormal individual and group behavior, human growth and development of family relationships;

•Knowledge of community structure and organization and how to intervene constructively on client's behalf.

•Ability to interview skillfully

•Ability to develop skills allowing for independent work, exercise judgment in making decisions as well as to cooperate and work as part of an interdisciplinary team;

•Ability to stimulate the cooperation of clients, their families, and stimulate the cooperation of community agencies or individuals;

•Ability to speak and write effectively;

•Ability to maintain case records in a clear and concise manner;

•Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

Salary Range: Dependent upon experience, beginning at $3,150/month (Bachelor's Degree); $3,675/month (Master's Degree).
