back with a VENGENCE!

I have gone for 4 years without any meds other than an occasional
xanax. Well....my symptoms are back and today I went to the Dr. He
prescribed Lexapro 10 mg. a day. Truthfully, I want my life back but
am really scared of any adverse reactions. Have any of you or someone
you know taken Lexapro. I've heard good things and bad. I'm supposed
to start my first pill tonight. Any thoughts, advice, etc. would be
aappreciated.

Yes, I too have the gastrointestinal problems. If I feel symptomscoming
on my first response is to take Gaviscon (liquid) 2 tablespoons with
afull glass of water. Most often, my symptoms will subside and go away.

I used to have a variety of MVP related chest pains. Then my
caridiologist said to take low dose aspirin on a daily basis. He did
not say it would reduce the chest pains, but it has greatly reduced
the chest pains to a point that I hardly notice it.

Regular exercise like brisk walks, helps too, but don't overdo it.

hi- i'm not a doctor...just a man with MVP so i cant really explain your
symptoms.
Chest pains can be very scary. They can make one anxious. I get them
once in a while (like pin pricks).......................i had shortness of
breath
a couple of months ago that wouldnt go away for a couple of
months............my main symptoms are fatiqyue, depression, anxiety but it is
hard to know if
they are caused by MVP..........there are some good books on the subject of
MVBP> Worth reading.
     I hope you feel better..........ed

Hi. About a year ago I was told that I have mvp with Regurgitation. I
seen the heart DR. July of last year and was told to come in nov. but I
didn't go. I have to go see him next month became my regular dr. said
that my valve is getting worse. All she did is listen to my heart. She
did know or thought she knew that I stopped the meds. (Atenolol 25mg.)
Once daily. How could she know that by just listening to my heart? Well
my question is can I go on a roller coaster? I am going to ask the
heart dr. that next month. I have shortness of breath everyday and
chest pain even with the meds although when I was off the meds it was
worse. Last summer I went on one of those log flume rides and had the
worst chest pains ever, but I also went on that ride that goes up 150
feet or so and drops you straight down. When I got off that ride I had
no chest pains. So what I'm asking is Do you think that the chest pains
from the log flume were because of fear and not my heart valve? I have
never been on a roller coaster and am really scared about it. I am a 25
yr old female. I smoke but don't drink unless it is a holiday or
something and even then maybe 1-2 drinks is all.
Thanks in advance,
                Cheryl

Hi Barb,
sometimes I will have it a couple of days in a row
then I may go 2-3 weeks without any occurrance. I went
to a nose and throat specialist and he said it was the
medications I take drying my nose out plus he said I
had membranes in my nose very close to the surface and
when they dry out they bleed a little. However this is
usually more clotty blood more than a runny nosebleed.
So he left it at that and told me to put a little
vaseline in my nose in the morning and evening so
thats what I do. Its always something I just hate
haveing to deal with this the rest of my life. Oh
well. Thanks for emailing me back I appreciate the
info. Take care.

To Mike hi how are you today? i hope you are having a
good day. i get the blood in my nose almost every day.
it used to be only in the morning on one side.
the last couple of nights i noticed it in the evening
also, when i blew my nose.
i have sinus problems, and this time of year is not so
good. humidity , pollen etc.
it is nota lot of blood, but in the morning like a
clump.
then it is gone. i have not mentioned it to my dr.
yet.
he used to to tell me it was dry air. but its pretty
humid here now. i was a little concerned as i knew a
lady who had bad valve leakage and got bloody noses,
but hers was a serious case, so i cant really compare
are you still having the problem?
thanks for the well wishes you have a good memorial
day too!
i just made it through my nuclear stress test with
good results 4 days ago, so i should relax a little
now i have to just get rid of this chronic stomach bug
take care

Hi Barb,
This is Mike McLane again. We talked a while back
about having blood in the nose in the morning. I was
just wondering how often does it happen to you. Please
let me know so I can compare it to the times that I
have had this happen. Thank you for responding the
last time. It made me feel good that I wasnt the only
person around that has this happen.

Have a great nad safe Memorial Day weekend!!!!

morning too usually just on one side, and have wondered about it for a long
time, as i never had a history of blood clots or anything. in the winter the drs
would say its too dry in the house but i have a humidifier. but it goes on all
year. i also get blood in mucous in the morning from sinus drainage that i
occasional cough out.
   thanks

Can anyone tell me, or has anyone heard, that getting a tattoo can lead
to a serious infection (endocarditis)? Does getting a tattoo increase
the risk of getting endocarditis?

You feedback is much appreciated.

the symptoms will get worse as your pregnacy progress. I passed out most of the
time when I was pregnant with my second one. My first pregnancy was bad already
but my second one is worst. As you gain more weight, i will get harder.

I also get numbness of fingers and heals... and dizziness. Along with
pain in my knees.... I cut back on the amount of coffee in the morning
and it helped out tremendously... Do you drink alot of coffee?

Congratulations on the baby! I would have your doctor check your
thyroid ... The baby takes alot from you and I had to switch meds alot
during my pregnancy to accomodate what my son needed from me.

Suzanne, I have only two of the supposed body traits: Curved lower
spine above buttocks and low blood pressure. I don't know where that
gets these from, not everyone with MVP has the traits, just as not
everyone has 98.6 temp.Mine has always been 99.4. We are all
different but can have the same health problems. You really do need
to get a echocardiogram, that will tell for sure. But if you have all
the symptons than I treat yorself kile you do and see if you feel
better.God Bless you, Jeaneen--- In

I was recently rushed to the emergency room at my local hospital for
what appeared to be a heart attack, it turned out to be MVP. I have a
lot of trouble on stairs and hills- I get sharp pains in my left side.
I often get numbers of the hands and dizzy when vacuuming. Has anyone
else ever had this happen to them? My doctor insists I take up walking
everday, I find it gives me pain and dizziness, so I do yoga instead.
Thanks, Jeaneen

I recently had a rapid heart rate and then a shooting pain that went
up the back of the right side of my neck to my brain... it was painful
for a few minutes and then subsided into a migraine for the rest of
the day. Has anyone ever experienced something like that?
