Hi all! I've never done this before....but anyways....been doing
quite a bit of research and long story short...I'm going to ask my
doctor to check me for Mitral Valve Prolapse. Please tell me if this
sounds like it could be that...
I've always been a strong athlete, extrovert, pretty, smart,
confident but not cocky, girl. I'm 27 years old now and have been
trying to figure out how this has turned around so suddenly. The
first sign I noticed something was up was the day before
thanksgiving 2003. We were driving to my "inlaws" about an hour
away. All of the sudden i couldn't breathe well, started shaking
uncontrollably, was nauseous and felt like I was going to die within
a minute for sure. Called my parents to say goodbye. As my boyfriend
sped to the nearest hospital the symptoms did not worsen but I
really felt like I was dying. By the time the nurse was checking me
out..I had already started to feel better and was almost embarassed
for this. Took the test where they inject blue stuff into you and
look at your heart and came back and said It must be a panick attack
and even suggested yoga! went to see my regular doc and she
prescribed xanax which i refused to take at first b/c I could not
believe I could have had a panick attack!
since then, I have suffered from minor attacks from time to time. I
have trouble falling asleep at night. My stomach is a wreck. my
allergies are horrible. I have lived in a new house since october of
2003. I react poorly to caffeine of any type, or even the
epinephrine in a topical anesthesia they gave me to remove a mole. I
was diagnosed with irritable bowl a month ago and the sonagram
showed tons of gas. My heart is often racing and I am sooo sleepy
but cannot sleep. Sometimes i will take a tylenol PM to sleep or on
rare occasions a xanax *i should note here that since being
prescribed xanax in january of 2004 I have only used 30 pills at
a .25mg*
I get tension headaches quite a bit which lead to neck aches. My
chiropractor did x rays which revealed MINOR scholiosis of the neck.
Nothing to worry about he said.
I also have extreme fatigue even tho I am an exercise nut. I always
thought this was just from my allergies or becaue I had mono 5 years
ago or something...but hmmm....
Sooo...what makes me want to get tested for MVP is that I have
noticed within the past 8 months or so that occasionally there is a
clicking noise when exhaling while laying on my right side at night.
I told my allergist this but he said he had no idea what I was
talking about. Sometimes I think the doctors think I am nuts and a
few times my father has told me I should just see a pharma-
psychiatrist (in a nice way...my father takes anxiety medication
daily.
Sooo...i am sorry this is so long...but I am sick and tired of being
sick and tired and having people just tell me to take a xanax when I
feel like I am not crazy! I almost wish it were that simple and I
was crazy....haha!
So have any of you experienced this. Do any of you MVP suffers also
take anxiety medication? Please email me at LaraG99@...
I appreciate any help/thoughts in the matter!!!!
Thanks!
Lara
